Navigation - formulas : distance, true course (bearing) loxodrome (rhumb line) and orthodrome greatcircle sailing


You have to insert ( for departure and arrival points ) : latitude and longitude (degrees- minutes-seconds)  "-degrees ..... " for south latitude or for west longitude.

example :    latitude     10° 25' 18" North   -   longitude :   30° 52' 54" West


You obtain :

true course (rhumb line-loxodrome) and distance in nautical miles

choosing  " to finish " = (option) 2  - than "mode 1 comp" - alpha O shows the orthodromic distance
choosing  " to continue " = (option) 1 you can go to waypoint 2 and so on   -   at the last waypoint choosing  " to finish " = (option) 2  - than "mode 1 comp" - alpha O shows the orthodromic distance between the last two points  and alpha U shows the total sum of the loxodromic distances

Nautical Astronomy - formulas : estimated altitude and azimuth of a celestial body (star, sun, moon or planet) observed with a sextant



You have to insert :

latitude  (degrees- minutes-seconds)  "- degrees ........" for south latitude
star declination : (degrees- minutes-seconds)  "-degrees ....." for south decl.
polar angle   : (degrees- minutes-seconds) , "-degrees ...." for west polar angle

example :     latitude =  10° 47' 24" North  -  declination =  22° 12' 18" South



You obtain :

estimated altitude and azimuth.

choosing  " to continue "= (option) 1 you can insert declination and polar angle for another celestial body
